_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 30 June 1898 Recently
Mr. and Mrs. John Warner, of the Hermitage, celebrated their golden
wedding. The festivities were held in the schoolroom, which had been
tastefully and appropriately decorated with golden wedding
chrysanthemums and autumn leaves, emblems of the life and maturity of
the happy old couple. Mr. Warner was born in Sussex, and came out in the
Eliza, arriving here in 1840. He has resided here almost continuously
ever since, only leaving the colony to visit tbe Victorian diggings,
where he was fairly successful. When he first landed he engaged with Mr.
Arthur Stuckey and went to Morphett Vale, where he did not remain long.
His next engagement was with Mr. Anstey, of Highercombe, where he
worked for some time. Later he purchased land from Mr. Williams who
owned the special survey on the sources of the Para. Mrs. Warner was
born in Oxfordshire, and arrived here with her father, Mr. Neale, in
October, 1838, in tbe Lady Emma. Mr. and Mrs. Warner were married in St.
John's Church, Adelaide, by the Rev. Mr. Woodcock, on May 23, 1848.
They have been strong and sturdy pioneers, and have fought their battle
well Mr. Warner . bears his 82 years without a stoop, and Mrs. Warner is
as comely a matron as many only half her age, and is still as straight
as a girl, not withstanding her years. A splendid breakfast was provided
for the guests, who included 6 children, 37 grandchildren, and 2 great
grand children There were also present the following friends of their
youth :—Mr. W. Wright, Mrs. Smyth, Mr. W. Neale, and Mrs. Taylor all of
whom came to the colony about the same time. Mrs. Taylor was their
bridesmaid 50 years ago, and Mr. Neale was also present, and drove them
from tbe church to their pioneer home. The usual speeches were given,
and health and happiness lovingly wished for the remainder of their
lives. The Rev. A. D. Bennett, on behalf of their children, presented
them with a beautiful easy chair, and Mr. R. McEwin presented them, as a
gift from their friends, with an eiderdown quilt, and for himself and
Mrs. McEwin a wedding-ring. Mr. and Mrs. Warner have been members of the
Wesleyan Church for 35 years.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 14 June 1901 The
golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs Mark Weston, of Gawler South,was
celebrated at the Foresters' Hall on Wednesday. There was a large family
gathering including all the children of the aged pair several
grandchildren, and a number oi friends and townspeople. After a. nicely
laid spread had received due attention, appropriate speeches of
congratulation were delivered by the Rev. H. E. Hughes, the Mayor of
Gawler (Mr. C. G. Rebbeck) and Messrs. R. J. Lavis, G. Moore, and E H.
Coombe, M.H.A. Replies were made by Messrs. John Mark, and Benjamin
Weston, and Mr. Howard Ellis. A purse of sovereigns was presented to the
venerable parents by Mr. John Weston on behalf of the children. The
couple, who an 76 and 78 yrears of age, were married at Milksham,
Wiltshire, by the Rev. Charles Daniels, Baptist minister, and came to
South Australia in the Octavia in 1855. In 1858 they made Gawler their
home, and with the exception of ten years spent in farming in the north,
have lived here ever since. The family consist of Mr. John Weston,
Stationmaster, Glanville; Mrs Ellis, North Adelaide: Mr. George Weston,
Narridy; Mrs. D.. Gillies, Hamley Bridge, Mr. M. Weston, Crystal Brook;

Saturday evening Mrs. T.M. Whelan and family gave a social eveing in
the Morgan Institute, the occasion being the 60th birthday of Mr.
Whelan. The friends of Morgan and district took the opportunity to
recognize the work Mr. Whelan had done for the town during his 30 years
residence. The chairman for the evening (Mr. W. Chapman) spoke in very
high terms of the guest, and was supported by Mr. H.K. Escott
(president, Morgan R.S.L. Sub-branch, Mr. E.H. Hausler (president
Sub-branch of Ex-Servicemen Legion), Mr.M. Napier (sports), Mr. E.R.
Shrubsole (Racing Club), Mr.T. Ellis (town) and Mr. D. Dempster (school). Mr.
N. Pendle, a very old friend of Mr Whelan, made a presentation of a
beautiful electric lamp, and an envelope containing a cheque for a large
amount, on behalf of his friends. Mr. Escott made a presentation of an
electric reading lamp on behalf of the members of the RSL Sub-branch,
and Mr. E.H. Hausler a presentation of a large clock from the Legion of
Ex-Servicemen and Women. Many private gifts were also given by old
friends at Cadell and Morgan. Telegrams of Congratulations were
received, including one from the oldest resident. Mrs. Ford, who is 91
years of age. Approximately 300 people were present during the evening
and many took part in a bridge tournament, the winners being Mr. J.
Ramich and Mrs E. Dearden. Music was rendered by the Morgan Jazz Band.
Supper arrangements were in the hands of friends of the Whelan Family.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 24 February 1904 On
January 26 the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. H. Williams was
celebrated at No. 7, Lowe-street, Adelaide, when a most enjoyable
,evening was spent in music and song. Most of the members of the family
were present, one son travelling from Broken Hill for the happy event,
while Mr. and Miss Tonkin, of Paradise (brother-in law and niece), and
Mrs. Hunter, late of Meningie (niece), and a number of friends were also
present. Mr. Williams was born at Redruth in 1827, and landed in Mel-
bourne in 1848, and crossed to Adelaide in 1849. Mrs. Williams was born
at Tavistock, Devonshire, in 1833, and came to Adelaide in May, 1847.
They were married at St. John's Church in January, 1854. Mr. Williams
worked on the Burra mine for two years, the couple afterwards going to
the Victorian diggings where they spent 20 years. Twelve vears ago, in
the same month (January), a sister and brother-in-law of Mrs. Williams
(the late Mr. and Mrs. Tregilgas, of Wellington) celebrated their golden
wedding, and if another sister and her husband live for another two
years there will be a third golden wedding in the family.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 3 August 1910 MAITLAND, July 30.- Mr.
and Mrs. H.R. Wundersitz celebrated their golden wedding last Tuesday.
After a short thanksgiving service, led by the Rev. J. H. Hoopmann,
congratulations and good wishes were showered on the old couple by the
children and grandchildren and a number of friends. They received two
illuminated addresses, one from the children and one from the
congregation of St. Paul's Church. South Kilkerran, of which Mr. and
Mrs. Wundersitz have been members from its inception. The Rev. J. H. Hoopmann
proposed the health of the jubilee pair, which was heartily responded
to. Mr. and Mrs. Wundersitz who are in fairly good health, were married
at Salem, near the River Bremer, by the late Rev. A. Strerapel, in the
year 1800, and have been living on the Peninsula for the last 37 years.
Thev have had 14 children, of whom 12 are living. All with one
exception, were present at the celebration.
