and Mrs. C. W. March, of "Richmond Villa". North Balaklava, entertained
about 30 girls to celebrate the coming of age of their youngest
daughter Edna. Items were contributed by Missess H Denison and G.
Shuttleworthh, I. Edwards and E. Spillane. Games were won by Master
Arnold Hore and Miss D. Shuttleworth, and competitions by Misses Phil
Manuel and L. Edwards. The guests autographed a gold key which was
presented to Miss March. Supper was served in the dining room, which was
decorated by Miss G March and Mrs. Cliff March in pink sweet peas and
gum tips. The cake, which was presented to Miss March by her mother and
decorated by Mrs. Len March her sister-in-law, consisted of two storeys,
with 21 candles, which were lit and the cake cut by the guest of the
evening. Misss Eileen Smith presonted Miss March with a Methodist Tune
Book from the members of the Girls' Comradeship.

McAULIFFE Michael Joseph
_100th Birthday Notice 24 December 1946 Mr. Michael Joseph McAuliffe. of Glen Osmond, will celebrate his 100th birthday today at an afternoon tea party in the grounds of the Little Sisters of the Poor Convent, Glen Osmond. The party will be attended by the Archbishop of Adelaide (Most Rev Dr. M. Beovich). Mr. McAuliffe was bom in County Clare, Ireland, and came to Adelaide with his parents in 1860. He lived at Norwood before taking a job on a Henley Beach farm at 2/6 a week. In 1864 his father bought a block of land at Appila-Yarrowie. and the family lived there until 1871, when they moved to Moockra. For nearly 40 years Mr. McAuliffe worked as a station hand near Alice Springs and Oodnadatta, eventually returning to Moockra, where he lived until the droughts of 1914-16 drove him out.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 11 April 1899 On
Monday Mr. and Mrs. Charles Medwell celebrated the fiftieth anniversary
of their wedding at their residence, Drayton-street, Bowden. The guests
included Mr. T. H. Brooker, MP., the Mayor of Hindmarsh (Mr. C R.
Hocking), the town clerk , Mr. Jobn Tait, the assistant town clerk (Mr.
T. J. Bishop). ex-Councillor W. Shearing and Geo. Wright, and Pastor
J. C F. Pittman, Councillor W. H. Medwell and Mr. Edward Medwell (sons)
and Mrs.W.H.Medwell were present. Mr. Pittman read a letter from the
officers of the Church of Christ. Robert-street. Hindmarsh, of which Mr.
and Mrs. Medwell are members, congratulating them on the celebration
of their golden wedding. He referred to their long connection with the
church and their usefulness in religious work. The Mayor, Messrs.
Brooker, Tait, Shearing, and Mr. Wright, a shipmate, also expressed
their congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Medwell acknowledged in feeling
terms the kind references made to them by the speakers. Mr. Medwell was
born at Collingham, near Middleton. Northhamptonshire, on July 12, 1824.
Mrs. Medwell was born on March 26,1827. at Brington, Huntingdonshire.
The aged couple were married on April 31. 1849, at Eason.
Northamptonshire, by the Rev. Mr. Charlton. They left England for
Australia on March 5. 1855. in the Taymouth Castle, and arrived here
with their two children on August 11. The ship was quarantined, and for
six -weeks lay at the lightship with passengers on board, and for two
weeks the passengers were on Torrens Island. There were nine deaths. For
three years Mr. and Mrs. Medwell lived at Dry Creek. For over 40 years
they have resided at Bowden. They have thee sons- Mr. John Medwell of
Murray Bridge; Councillor W. H. Medwell, Hindmarsh, Mr. Edward
Medwell,of Bowden; and two daughters—Mrs. Henry Newson, West Australia,
Mrs. Jacob Owen, Sydney. There are 22 grandchildren and one great
grandson.

and Mrs. H. D. Melville, of Oxford terrace, Unley, celebrated the 50th
anniversary of their wedding on July 21. Mr. Melville was born in London
in 1825. and arrived in Australia by the ship Lalla Rookh in August,
1840. Mrs. Melville was also born in London in 1832, and came to
Australia by the Anna Maria in 1849. They were married on July 21, 1852,
at Trinity Church, by the late Dean Farrell, and have six sons and five
daughters living.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 1 December 1906 EUDUNDA, November 28.- On
Wednesday last Mr. and Mrs. G. Mibus celebrated the 50th anniversary of
their wedding day at their home at Emmaus. Mr. Mibus, who is 77 years
old, was born in the province of Posen, in Prussia, in 1829. He came to
this State in 1855, and resided at Greenock until 1872, when he removed
to Emmaus, at which place he has resided ever since. Mrs. Mibus (nee
Miss Schulz) was born at Klemzig, in the province of Brandenburg, and
arrived in South Australia in 1846. The aged couple were married at
Greenock. They have a family of six children and twenty grandchilden.
Over 100 guests met to do honor to the happy couple. The Rev. A. T.
Nickel, pastor of Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church, of which Mr. and
Mrs. Mibus are members, gave an address. Speeches were also delivered by
the children. The old couple were the recipients of numerous presents.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 10 May 1899 Mr.
and Mrs. Mitchelson, of Modbury celebrated their golden wedding on
Saturday last, having been married at St. Marylebone Church, London May
6, 1849. They came to South Australia in the ship Mary Green in
June, I853, and lived for the first two years in Thebarton, and in 1855
removed to Modbury, and have lived there ever since. Amongst the many
friends who paid their respects to the aged couple was Mr. and Mrs. J.
W. King, of Naime, old London acquaintances of more than 50 years; also
Mr. James Cronk one of the pioneers, who arrived in November 1836, and
although over 83 years old is hale and hearty.

_Diamond Wedding Notice Advertiser 17 May 1910 Mr.
and Mrs. John Moore, two old residents of North Adelaide, celebrated
their diamond wedding at the Kermode street Chapel, which is opposite
their residence, on Thursday evening. The church was crowded with
guests. Mr. A M Ludbrook, who presided over the breakfast, proposed the
health of the couple, and congratulated them on having been spared to
live happily together for 60 years. Mr.. H. A. Moore (a son) responded.
Mr J. J. Sharp, representing Messrs Harris Scarfe and Co, by whom Mr.
Moore was employed for many years, made a happy congratulatory speech,
and Mr. Stipples another employee of the firm, spoke in eulogistic
terms of Mr. and Mrs Moore. On behalf of the employees of Messrs Harris
Scarfe and Co he handed Mr Moore a purse of sovereigns as a token of
their esteem. Mrs. Moore was presented with a handsome bouquet by Mrs.
Haverland. Speeches of congratulation were also made by Messrs. Stephens
J. Anderson, McPhee, and McRostie, while recitations were contributed
by the Misses Whitfield, Jackson, and Fischer, and a song by Mr. J J.
Sharp. Many presents, besides letters and telegrams, containing good
wishes, were received by the happy couple. Mr. Moore, who is 87
years of age, was bom at Ruddington, near Nottingham, and Mrs. Moore,
who is eight years his junior, claims Selby, in Yorkshire, as her native
town. They were married in England, and two years later emigrated to
Australia, arriving in 1852 n the Epammondas after a voyage of 16 weeks
Mr. Moore obtained employment with the late Mr. C. Fenn, solicitor, of
Kensington, but when the Bendigo gold rush took place in 1853 he was
induced to try his fortunes in the neighboring State. He met with small
success, and on returning to Adelaide entered into the service of Mr. G.
P. Harris, who then conducted a small ironmongery business in Hindley
street. He continued with the firm after the late Mr George Scarfe
joined Mr. Harris, and the business grew until it has reached its
present dimensions in Gawler-place. Mr. Moore remained in the firm's
employ about 50 years until six. years ago, when he was seized by a
paralytic stroke. Mr. and Mrs Moore had six sons and eight daughters, of
whom the following are living:-Mr J. R. Moore (an employee of Harris
Scarfe, and Co. for the past 28 -years); Mr G W.Moore, Victorian
Railways; Mr. Arthur T. Moore, Brompton; Mr. H. A Moore, Gilberton, Mrs
R. Richmond, Hamley Bridge; and Mrs. J. Fischer, North Adelaide There
are 31 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

GOLDEN WEDDING. Burra, January 28. The golden wedding of Mr. Thomas
Mountford and Mrs. Eliza Mountford was celebrated at their residence,
near Hallett, on Friday last. The happy couple are aged 73 and 70
years respectively, and are colonists of upwards of 45 years, having
landed in South Australia in 1856. They carried on farming near Enfield
for a time, after which they moved to Willowie, and later to Hallett.
There are four sons and three daughters, with 33 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren living. Upwards of 30 were present at the breakfast.
The old couple were presented with a purse of sovereigns by the
children, and about 50 presents were received from friends. In the
evening a social was held in the Institute Hall, Hallett, when besides
the relatives there were present nearly the whole population of the
township. Songs, speeches, recitations, and dancing were indulged in,
and a feature of the evening was an old-time hornpipe splendidly
rendered by Mr. Mountford himself.

_Golden Wedding Notice Burra Record 31 January 1912
Mr and Mrs Thomas Mountford, of Hallett, celebrated their golden
wedding on Jan. 26, when nearly all their family were around them. They
came to S.A. in 1856, and were both natives of Berkshire. Mr Mountford
who is 83 years of age, and his good wife 80 years, enjoys fairly good
health, and both have good memories.The function took place in the
Hallett institute, when the old couple received numerous
congratulations and many presents.There were about 150 guests present.
The Rev. Brasher read the old marriage lines, and Mr Thomas Mountford,
jun., proposed the health of his parents, and the son, Sydney,
responded on behalf of the parents. Mr Chas. Mountford spoke on behalf
of the absent ones. NB: Whilst

HALLETT, February 3.—Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mountford celebrated their
diamond wedding on January 26 in the institute. There was a large
gathering of relatives and friends. They were married at St. Mary's
Church, Speenhamland, Berkshire, and arrived in the State in 1856.
They have three sons - Messrs. Thomas, Charles and Sydney Mountford -
and two daughters - Mrs. Drake and Mrs. Millard — with 35 grandchildren
and 15 greatgrand children.
