Law Court Notice South Australian Chronicle & Weekly Mail January 1873 Thursday January 2 - Before Mr. S. Beddome, P.M. Thomas O'Brien, labourer, was charged with stealing from the dwelling house of Elizabeth McEvoy 5s 8d. The prosecutrix said that she had placed some money under a mat in her house in Currie-street. Prisoner asked for a lucifer, and she sent him into the house to get one. Missed the money shortly afterwards, and heard that that he had been "shouting". Prisoner told the policeman that he had her 5s 8d., and had five half crowns beside. Ann Connor corroborated. Police Constable Driscoll said that prosecutrix gave the prisoner in charge, but he bolted, and after a chase he went into the Castle Inn, where he violently assaulted the policeman. The information, was dismissed. The same prisoner was then charged with assaulting Police-constable Thomas Driscoll. Fined £5.

Divorce Notice The Advertiser 17 December 1935 A order nisi was granted by Mr. Justice Napier in reserved judgement in the Supreme Court yesterday in the following undefended action for divorce: His Honor referred to the Full Court an action for divorce by Elsie May Olds of New street, Queenstown, against Theodore Richard Olds, of Margaret street, North Adelaide on the ground of habitual failure to pay maintenance. The question was whether failure to comply with an order for the paymnet of 1/- a month maintenance constituted a ground for divorce. His Honor said,"I think there is some ground for the contention that the facts are covered by the formula which Parliament has seen fit to employ in section 6 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1929, but I find it very difficult to believe that Parliament ever contemplated a case of this kind." Mr. J.F. Brazel instructed by the Law Society, appeared for Mrs Olds.
