DALE George
Funeral Notice The South Australian Advertiser 6 June 1859 FUNERAL OF THE LATE Mr. GEORGE DALE. The remains of our esteemed fellow-citizen Mr. Dale were conveyed to their last resting place at the West Terrace Cemetery on the afternoon of Sunday, June 5. A very large multitude assembled to witness the departure of the melancholy procession, and that portion of Hindley-street immediately opposite Mr. Dale's residence was completely blocked up by a dense throng of eager spectators. There was a large muster of the Masonic body, who had attended with the view of offering their last tribute of respect to a deceased member of the craft. A Lodge was held in the Victoria Hotel, presided over by the Worshipful D,P.G.M. Lazai, assisted by the P.G. Chaplain, the Rev. Mr. Pollitt, Brothers S.W. Fiveash and J.W. Downer. After the solemn observances in the Lodge-room were concluded, the assembled brethren formed and marched in procession before the hearse. A very large number of vehicles brought up the rear, and when the cortege was in motion, all the spectators attended it to the end. On arriving at West-terrace the number of spectators was greatly augmented and by the time of arrival at the Cemetery gate, it was evident that a very large concourse of people had assembled within the grounds. The Very Rev. Dean Farrell received the procession on its entrance within the gates, and conducted the burial service. The crowd became so dense in the immediate vicinity of the vault that it was impossible for the majority of members of the craft to approach sufficiently near to hear the service, the concluding portion of which was performed by the Rev. Mr. Pollitt and D.P.G.M. Lazar. When all was over, each mason pressed forward to scatter his last tribute of regard on the coffin of the deceased brother, after which the concourse gradually dispersed, having been one of the largest attendances at a faneral in the colony we have ever witnessed. The number present has been variously estimated at from four or five thousand people.

DOLAN Murray
__Death Notice Murray Pioneer 9th February 1950 DOLAN - On January 26, at Berri, Murray, loved son of Frederick and Matilda Dolan, of Berri. Aged 1 year and 11 months. Death Report Murray Pioneer 2 February 1950 Little Boy Drowned in Tank at Berri Father's Courageous Rescue Efforts Berri, January 30 A sad drowning accident occurred in the Berri area on Thursday, January 26, when Murray Dolan, aged 1 year and 11 months, was found drowned in n underground tank near his home at about 6p.m. His father, Frederick Dolan, whilst chopping wood saw the children playing near the house, but after completing his work he noticed that the boy was missing and immediately started a search in the scrub and channels. His attention was then drawn to an underground tank which was fenced off, but the gate had been opened. Fearing that the child had fallen into the tank the father entered the tank which had a 15 inch opening and was filled to within four inches of the top. He dived several times coming up the the small aperture for air. Almost exhausted he made one last attempt and located the body. Neighbours assisted with artificial respiration before the little boy was removed to the hospital where Dr. T. Kohler tried further but unsuccessful means to revive him. M.C. Prince submitted a report to the Coroner (Mr. L.S. Trenaman) who deemed an inquest unnecessary. The police spoke very highly of the courageous efforts of the father in his endeavours to save the child. Return Thanks Notice Murray Pioneer 9th February 1950 Mr and Mrs Fred Dolan of Berri, sincerely THANK all relatives, friends and neighbours for their personal expressions of Sympathy and floral tributes in their sad loss of their dear baby son (Murray), accidently drowned, aged 1 year 11 months. Obituary Notice West Coast Sentinel 26th February 1916 Profound regret was expressed throughout the district when it was announced on Monday afternoon last that Mrs Doley, wife of Mr. H. Doley, of Petina, had passed away at the Streaky Bay public Hospital, where she had been an inmate, off and on, for a month past. She was taken ill on January 21st., and next day brought in to the hospital, then a few days later went out to her parents' residence, Burko, but, upon more serious symptons developing, she was once again taken to the hospital. Later, an operation was deemed advisable, but it did not have the desired effect, and she died on the same afternoon. Mrs Doley was the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F.W. Freeman, and was married only in August last. She was 19½years of age, being born in 1896 at Calca, in which district, as elsewhere, she was a great worker in any public matter and a general favourite. Great sympathy is felt for Mr Doley and Mr and Mrs Freeman and family. The funeral took place at the Streaky Bay cemetery on Wednesday morning, the Church of England burial service being conducted at the grave. The cortege was a lengthy one.
