_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 29 November 1898 On
Friday. November 25, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Smallwood. of Somerset
Cottages, celebrated their golden wedding, by invitation at Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Holder's resi- dence, First-avenue, East Adelaide, where an
enjoyable day was spent. The old couple \vere married at Spencer street
Congregational Church, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England, on
November 25, 1846, but on account of an accident to Mrs. Smallwood and
her continual iillness,they were unable to celebrate the jubilee of
their married life at the close of the 50th year. They left the old
country in the ship Walter Morrice, for Sydney, where they arrived in
February. I848. They came to South Australia in June, 1851. After
staying in Adelaide till February. I852, Mr. Smallwood went to the
dijggings. Having been fairly successful they took a trip to the old
land, returning after a stay of some months. Mr. Smallwood has followed
his occupation as a plasterer till about three years ago, since which
time he has been living at Somerset Cottages, Walkerville.

two sons, Donald and Trevor. In his speech of thanks to the friends and
relatives, Mr Smith related some of his experiences during his life as a
horse trainer. A friend formerly of Cadell, who was not able to be
present, sent a hand knitted cardigan to Mr. Smith. In the pattern was
knitted a horse.
