_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 2 July 1898 Crystal Brook, June 29. Mir.
and Mrs. W. Kennett of this town celebrated their golden wedding on
Wednesday last. Most of their family and some friends were present to
congratulate the couple upon the jubilee of their marriage. A
presentation was made to them on behalf of well-wishers and members of
the church. THey were married in East Kent, England (both being natives
of the same part), in 1848, and arrived at Port Adelaide in the ship
Duke of Bedford in December of the same year. After living successively
at Walkerville and Salisbury, and engaging in farming operations at
Peachy Belt and Kangaroo Flat, Mr. and Mrs. Kennett came to Crystal
Brook nearly 21 years ago. They have a family of seven children and
about 40 grandchildren.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 14 November 1898 On
Friday last, November 11, two old and respected colonists Mr. and Mrs.
E. King, sen., of Maclaren Vale, aged 72 and 73 respectively, celebrated
their golden wedding. In the year 1851 Mr. and Mrs King arrived in
South Australia from London in the barque Hydaspes. During the voyage
their only two children died. On arrival here they went into service at
Woodside, and in the following year Mr. King caught the then prevalent
gold fever, and went to the Eaglehawk Gully diggings in Victoria,
returning 11 months later with £90. After this they entered the service
of the late Mr. Justice Gwyand at Inman, the wages in those days being
10s. per week, with rations, consisting of 10 Ib. of flour, 10lb. of
meat, 2lb sugar, and 1.3 lb. tea. In 1857 they took a farm near the
Bluff, Encounter Bay, 'which they worked with success for ? years, and
then removed to a farm near MacLaren Vale, and continued farming until
1880, when they retired to the comfortable home in which they have since
resided. Of the 15 children born to them, eight sons and two daughters
are alive and married, two sons farming in New Zealand, and the
remainder are employed in the wine making industry at MacLaren Vale.
There are 42 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren living. The old
couple are still hale and hearty.

_Diamond Wedding Notice Advertiser 31 March 1910 Mr.
J. W. King, of, Nairne, will celebrate his diamond wedding to-day. He
was married at Trinity Church, Regent's Park, London, by the Rev. J.
Gardiner, chaplain of the House of Commons, to Miss Ann Clarke, daughter
of Mr. William Clarke, of Spalding. Lincolnshire, on March 31, 1850.
Mr. and Mrs. King arrived in South Australia in November, 1853, by the
ship Olivia, Captain Williams. Mr. King went straight to Nairne from the
ship, travelling in a bullock dray, which took two days on the
road, and he has lived there ever since. He could not get work in,
Adelaide at his trade as a bootmaker, and so accepted an engagement with
Mr. Henry Medworth Jackson at Nairne. Mrs. King, was stopping with
friends at Thebarton, accompanied her husband to Nairne about a week
afterwards. Within six months he commenced business on his own account,
at times employing as many as ten hands. In 1862 Mr. King started an
auctioneering and agency business, which he continued until about l8
years ago. He has served in the Nairne District Council and was chairman
for several years. Mr. King became agent for "The Advertiser" at
Nairne when it was first established, in July, 1858, and he still
retains that position. Mr. King will be 83 years old on May 28, and his
wjfe will be 82 on May 11. Both are hale and hearty.. They have had four
sons and two daughters. Mr. W. F. King, the eldest, farming at
Yorrock, near Kaniva, Victoria; Mr. John King resides at Maitland: Mr.
Thomas King is in Perth, WA.; and Mr. A. W. King, the youngest, is
secretary of the Brooktown Roads Board, Beverley (WA). The daughters
are Mrs. Gum, of Amyton, near Hammond and Mrs. Chapman, wife of Mr.
George Chapman, of Nairne. All the family have come to Nairne to help in
the celebration of the diamond wedding of their parents. There are
30 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Four generations both of
boys and girls will be present at the ceremony.

_Coming of Age Notice Advertiser and Register 14 March 1931 A
coming-of-age birthday party was tendered at the Masonic Hall,
Parkside, on February 24 to Mavis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kneebone, of
"Warringa." Parkside. The hall was beautifully decorated with pink
peach blossom and blue gum. Mr and Mrs. P. Kneebone and Mavis received
their guests. About 54 guests sat down to supper.

_Gift Evening Notice Port Lincoln Times 25th Janaury 1940 GIFT EVENING AT CLEVE The
many friends of Miss Nancy Kraehe tendered her a gift evening on
January 16, prior to marriage to Mr Lindsay Brown. The Cleve Institute
was requisitioned for the event, and dancing was the principal item of
amusement. The hall and stage were smartly decorated for the occasion,
and music was supplied by the Cleve Orchestra. Friends from the audience
assisted with relief at the piano. During the evening, Mr. P.G.
Fitzgerald in handing Miss Kraehe a wallet of notes with good wishes of
them all, spoke of her universal popularity. Mr Brown responded on her
behalf.
KRIEBEL
_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 6 June 1899 Eudunda, June 2. An
interesting ceremony took place at the German Church yesterday, when
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kriebel. of this town, celebrated the 5Oth
anniversary of their wedding day. Mr. Kriehel arrived in the colony in
1845, Mrs. Kriebel following in 1848, and they were married at Tanunda
on June I, 1849, Pastor Kavel being the officiating minister. On the
present occasion Pastor Siegelele performed the ceremony. The old
couple walked from their residence to the church, preceded by their
offspring, consisting of their three surviving daughters, with their
husbands,18 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The bride wore a
golden wreath, and the bridegroom a golden rosette. A large number of
friends also escorted the wedding party. At the wedding breakfast a
number of guests sat down, and speeches of a congratulatory nature were
made. A social was held at night, at which the singing band gave several
pieces. Mr. Krieble, who is 74 years of age, is a local preacher in the
German Church, and also an active member of the local branch of the
Agricultural Bureau. Until last year he held a seat in the Neales
District Council. Mrs. Krieble is 70 years of age.
KUCHEL - HIRTE
_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser & Register 6 March 1931 Fifty
years ago Mr. Christian Kuchel, one of the old pioneers of Murray
Bridge, was married in the little brick Lutheran Church at Hahndorf (now
Ambleside), to Miss Hirte of that town. The ceremony was conducted
by the pioneer Lutheran pastor of Murray Bridge (Rev. L. Kuss), now of
Waikerie, who a month ago celebrated his jubilee as a minister of the
church. To celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of the wedding the
five sons and three daughters, with their families, assembled at the
home of Mrs. Liebelt (eldest daughter) on Tuesday. There were 120
persons present, the majority of them descendants of the old couple.
Before the guests partook of the wedding breakfast Pastor J. Doehler
conducted a short service, after which two of the grand children
decorated the bride and bride groom with a golden wreath and button
hole. About two years ago Mr. Kuchel,who will be 80 years old on Friday,
had a leg amputated. In referring to the present depression Mr. Kuchel
said—"When we were first married we had no harvest for fourteen years,
and still we got through all right, and we'll manage again with the help
of God.
