Death Notice Chronicle 1st December 1917 Sergeant H. J. PALMER, B Company 5th Battalion, second son of Mrs. L. and the late C. G. Palmer, of Haslam, West Coast, was killed in France on September 27. He was born at Nailsworth. and received his education at Nailsworth School. He enlisted in February, 1915, and left for Egypt on April 20. He went to Gallipoli with tbe 5th reinforcements to the 10th Battlion, and served there for five months. He spent Christmas Day on Lennos Island. He was transferred to Tel-el-Kebir with the 50th Battalion, and afterwards was for several months training on Salisbury Plains. He was wounded on the Somme front, and was invalided to York Hospital. Then he spent several months at Codford Camp and Lyndhurst, learning bombing. He gained a certificate for efficiency, and rejoined his company, with which he remained until hit death. Sergeant Palmer was engaged in farming at Kangaroo Island and on the West Coast, where he was a general favorite.

Death Notice Chronicle 1st December 1917 Sergeant A. (Tanto) PARKER, A.M.C., has been killed in action in France. When he enlisted he was employed by Mr. John Yeo- builder, of Semaphore, and prior to that he was rate collector at Thebarton. Sergeant Parker offered his services on the first day of the call for men. He left with the first contingent, and was at the landing on Gallipoli, where he remained until the evacuation. Then he went to France, where he was killed last month. He was a native of Preston, Lancashire, and before coming to Australia six years ago was a corporal in the Duke of Lancaster's Yeomanry. He was 26 years of age, was of a bright disposition, and was greatly respected.

Death Notice Chronicle 1st December 1917 Lieutenant H. L. PLACE, of Murat Bay, was the fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Place. He came to Adelaide to enlist for active service on his 21st birthday. He left Australia in August, 1916, as sapper in the 6th Field Engineers. In 1916 he gained the Distinguished Conduct Medal in France, and shortly afterwards was promoted to second lieutenant. He was killed in action on October 9. He was a fine manly fellow, and was generally respected. He was a nephew of Mr. S. Trestrail, of Clare, and a cousin of Detective Trestrail, of Adelaide.
