century in the colony. They arrived in South Australia on November 7,
I849, and Mr. Tippett at once proceeded to take up his appointment as
engineer to the Australian Mining Company, and was engaged in the

TREBILCOCK
_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 1 July 1898 Mr.
and Mrs. John Trebilcock celebrated their golden wedding at their son's
residence, Fifth Creek, on Monday, June 27. As everybody knows, Mr.
Trebilcock is an old and respected resident of the hills, where be
holds much property, including several beautiful gardens. The couple
were married fifty years ago at Mawgan, in Cornwall, and the anniversary
was marked by a dinner, given to relatives, tenants, and friends in a
large building excellently adapted for the purpose. It was artistically
decorated for the occasion, and fully a hundred persons sat down to
dinner, including 25 grand children. At the head of the table were the
aged couple, who are old in years, but in other respects not greatly
affected by the passage of time. They thoroughly enjoyed the
proceedings. Nobody was surprised to learn that they are great favorites
among their neighbors and that every one had a good word to say for
them, for Mr. Trebilcock's sterling character and for Mrs. Trebilcock's
unfailing kindness. After a good dinner had bean partaken of and the
wedding cake had been divided, the Rev. W. G. Marsh, of St. Luke's
Church, who presided, proposed "The health of Mr. and Mrs.
Trebilcock." This be did in most felicitous terms. He pointed to the
aged couple as a pattern for young people. They were now in advanced
years, and en- joyed the love and respect of their neighbors and
friends. They were not merely rich in this world's goods, but in the
esteem of all who knew them, which was the higher form of wealth. He
congratulated them on having around them such a large number of
relatives, children, and grand- children. He trusted that the young
people present would live to have golden weddings, and in the retrospect
would find as much reason for satisfaction as Mr. and Mrs. Trebilcock.
They had climbed life's hill together, and were now spending a serene
old age among those they loved and by whom they were beloved. The toast
was drunk with enthusiasm. Mr.Trebilcock, when he rose to reply, was
received with applause. Standing over 6 ft. high, with his grey locks,
he looked what he is, a fine old gentleman. From the bottom of his heart
on his own behalf and for his wife he thanked them for the cordial
reception. Their hearts were full of joy and thankfulness to the
Almighty for the Way they had been led. Nothing too good could be said
of his noble partner, who had been indeed a worthy helpmate. Mr. C.
Curnow proposed "The family." For many years he had been acquainted with
the Trebilcocks and he had never known a better family. Mr. J.
Trebilcock, jun., responded. Sir LANGDON BONYTHON, who was warmly
applauded on rising, proposed "Absent friends." He cordially endorsed
all that the chairman had so well said respecting Mr. and Mrs.
Trebilcock. They were certainly in every respect pattern citizens. With
the aid of Mr. Trebilcock he could shake hands with the past. When a
schoolboy in Cornwall Mr. Trebilcock knew his great grandfather, John
Bonython, who was born in 1755. Mr. J. Holmes replied. After a hearty
vote of thanks to the chairman the proceedings closed with rounds of
cheers.

TRIGG
_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 15 July 1898 Port Elliott, July 14. A
gathering of an exceptional character for this town took place here on
Wednesday, the occasion being the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. John
Trigg, the worthy couple having resided in the-district for over 44
years. Mr. Trigg was born at Basiongborne, Cambridgeshire, March
15,1819, and his wife also came from the same shire having been born at
Littlington September 25,1826. On July 13, 1848, they were married in
Basingbourne by the Rev. Mr. Wright, of Melbourne, Cambridgeshire, and
less than five years afterwards set sail for Australia in the ship
Ramilies, arriving at Port Adelaide on May 20, 1853, after a voyage of
90 days. Having been taught the trade, of a bootmaker in his native
town Mr. Trigg soon found employment in Adelaide, but after staying
there three months he removed to Encounter Bay. For twelve months he
found employment with farmers in the district, but at the end of that
time decided to make a start for himself at his trade. This time Port
Elliott was his choice, and here he has remained ever since. Mr. and
Mrs. Trigg have had the usual ups and downs with which all old colonists
are so familiar, sickness and death having at times cast deep shadows
on their home, but many evidences of Mr. Triggs unabounded trust in God
are to be seen in the quaint writings on the old-fashioned whitewashed
walls of his well-known work room. "Many a visitor drops in during the
summer to have a chat with him and enjoy his stories, so fresh in his
memory still, of life as it was in England when he left 45 years ago, or
of adventures with the blacks when he first came here. At the present
time there are three sons, three daughters and 29 grandchildren living,
and of these two sons with their wives, two daughters, and nine
grandchildren were able to spend the day and evening with the old
couple, who though bowed with age are both very active, and still hope
to enjoy the comfort and happiness conveyed to them in the wished so
freely expressed by relatives and friends on the auspicious occasion.
