Miss Miriam Tolhurst, daughter of Mr. H. Tolhurst, of Alberton, was the bride and Mr. John Backshall, son of Mr. G. Backshall of Yankalilla, the bridegroom. The Rev. Father Kelly officiated. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a pretty robe of white silk, trimmed with silk insertion, while a wreath of orange blossom confined the embroidered veil of tulle. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white azaleas, lillies of the valley and fern. Miss Slater was in attendance as maid of Honor, looking sweet in a pink satin gown, veiled in lace. She wore a dainty mob cap of pink satin, with frills of lace, a wreath of tiny pink roses and carried a bouquet of roses and fern, which, with a Southern Cross brooch, was the bridegroom's gift. Mr Darrall Dixon was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held, when the popular young couple received the congratulations of their many friends.

Wedding Notice West Coast Sentinel 17th April 1914 BARNETT - CHANDLER Very charming and interesting was the wedding celebrated at the Merghiny Methodist hall on Wednesday, March 25th., when Miss Alicia H. Chandler, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Chandler, Merghiny, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr. Walter Barnett, second son of Mr. T. A. Barnett, of Waranda. The Rev. A.M. Davis was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, was prettily gowned in rich creme silk, trimmed with silk insertion. She wore the orthodox veil and coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of roses, lilies of the valley and fern. The hall had been very affectively decorated by the lady friends of the bride, and on the archway, under which the happy couple stood, was suspended a large wedding bell. The attendant bridesmaids were Miss Nell Cranwell, who was daintly attired in creme voile, worked in many shades of blue, and Miss Grace Finn, also very becomingly robed in a pretty creme frock. Both girls carried bouquets of blue and white flowers and asparagus fern, and wore crystal bands in their hair. Mr James Chandler jnr., and Mr A. Barnett fulfilled the duties of best man and groomsman, respectively, while Mr. A. Doecke presided at the organ. After the ceremony the well wishes of all present were conveyed to the bride and bridegroom, over cups of fragrant tea and tempting sweet-meats. Mr and Mrs Barnett were the recipients of many handsome and useful gifts.

Beer, of Petina and Eda Veronica, third daughter of Mr. H. Gerschwitz, of Black Hill, and late of South Kilkerran, Yorke Peninsula, were united in the bonds of holy matrimony by the Rev. T.H.W. She wore the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a lovely bouquet. Miss Elsie Gerschwitz (sister of the bride) made a charming bridesmaid, dressed in white crepe like the bride, she carried a pretty bouquet. The bridegroom's cousin (Mr Herbert Gerschwitz) acted as best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the wedding breakfast was partaken of at the bride's home. After the loyal toast had been honored, Rev. Goessling proposed the health of the happy couple, to which the bridegroom responded, and who afterwards proposed the health of the bridesmaid, in whose behalf the best man responded. Mr. W.L. Schulz submitted a toast to the parents of the young couple. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold necklet, and to the bridesmaid a handbag. The latter also received a gold brooch from the best man. The happy couple left on Friday for Adelaide and Yorke Peninsula where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride's travelling dress was of navy blue crepe-de-chene, with pale pink solk hat trimmed with daisies. A number of cheques and beautiful gifts were received.

Marriage Notice West Coast Sentinel 15th July 1916 BENNIE - WILLIAMS St Augustine's Church of England, Streaky Bay was the scene of a wedding of considerable local interest on Tuesday afternoon last, when Miss Florence May Williams, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Oscar Williams, of "Woodlawn" Streaky Bay, was united to Mr Herbert James Bennie, second son of Mr and Mrs John Bennie of Moolgerie. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A.S. Urch, B.A. while the bride was given away by her father and had in attendance as first and second bridesmaids respectively, her sister Winnie and Miss Florence G. Bennie (the bridegroom's eldest sister), with Pte. William Bennie as best man and Mr Gordon Williams as groomsman. The bride, who was attired in a white pailette silk gown, pinafore fashion bodice and tunic skirt, looked indeed charming. The dress was trimmed with pearls and lace, and she wore the usual wreath. The train, which was lined with pink silk, was handsomely decked with horseshoes, true-lovers knots and orange blossoms, while the embroidered veil, arranged in mob-cap style, was draped so as to hang over the train. The bridesmaids wore, respectively, pale pink and blue pailette silk dresses, trimmed with white lace, with black picture hats, underlined with silk to match the dress, and each also wore initial brooches, the gift of the bridegroom. Miss Old officiated at the organ. After the ceremony the bridal party adjourned to "Woodlawn", where some seventy relatives sat down to breakfast. In the evening the Streaky Bay institute, which had been prettily decorated by young lady friends of the bride, was crowded with relatives and friends, and a very enjoyable social gathering resulted. The polonaise led off by the bride and bridegroom, was the initial item of the evening, and this was followed by a programme of dances under the MC-ship of Mr Herbert Old, intermingled with a pianoforte duet by Misses Lettie and Grace Speed, songs by Mrs John Herreen, Misses A. Smith and Milly Campbell and Mr John Herreen, and a recitation by Mr Gordon Simmons. Supper, which was in the capable hands of Mr A. McConnal, was partaken of about 11 o'clock. Mr and Mrs Bennie were the recipients of a handsome and useful collection of presents, and these were on view in the hall during the evening. Bruce of Karoonda was married to geoffrey C., only son of Mr and Mrs M.N. Blacket, of Wynarka. The Rev. G. Wright officiated. The bride entered the church with her father wearing a beautiful gown of ivory satin. The long-sleeved frock, which was embroidered and studded with pearls on the neck and hip yokes had a medici collar. The full skirt swept back into a long train. She wore a long tulle veil and halo of orange blossom, and carried a sheaf of lily of the valley and tuberoses. The brdesmaids were Miss Fay Appleby (cousin of the bride) and Miss Maria Whibley, and were frocked alike in lemon crepe gowns which had a self bustle effect and a matching allover lace yoke. All three frocks were buttoned down the back to the waist, with full skirts. The bridesmaids ore waist-length embroidered veils, held in place by a cluster of autumn flowers. Mr. Brian Martin was best man and Mr Thomas Mills, groomsman. Mrs R.M. LeMaistre played the Wedding March, and during the signing of the register Mrs Brooks sang "Because". As the bride left the church lucky horseshoes were hung on her arm by Beverley Bruce, Christine Longmire and Judith Whibley. The bride's mother wore a black crepe frock embroidered with gold and black accessories. The bridgeroom's mother wore a black crepe frock with scallpoed yoke and black accessories. Two hundred guests were received in the Masonic Hall for the reception. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride's sister, Mrs. F. Longmire. After the reception the guests adjourned to the Institute to receive the bridal party, and dancing was interspersed with items by Miss Ruth Geier, Mesdames Brooks, Evans and Williams. Oakley's Orchestra provided the music and Mr. F. Lehmann was MC. For travelling the bride chose an aqua blue crepe frock embroidered in a matching blue thread with unpressed pleated skirt and nigger brown accessories. The couple spent their honeymoon at Victor Harbour and will make their future home at Wynarka.

The veil of embroidered tulle was lent by Mrs. R. D. Field, and was arranged cap fashion, with a wreath of orange blossom and clusters of orange blossom and silver ribbon on either side of the head. The bride also wore a long string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a shower bouquet of white dahlias, roses and fern, with white satin streamers, and tiny horseshoe. The bridesmaids were the bride's sister Iris, and Joyce Brook, who were daintily gowned in orange georgette over silk of the same shade, flared skirts, with double flounce and hip yoke, large cape collars beautifully embroidered in autumn tints. They also wore picture hats trimmed in autumn shades, and black satin shoes. Each bridesmaid wore a string of orange colored beads—the gift of the bride-groom and carried bouquets of flowers in autumn shades. Mr. James Stapleton was best man. and Mr. Ronald Sexton groomsman. The bridal party, friends and relatives then took tea at Mrs. Farrow's. The bride's mother wore black wool crepe de chine, trimmed with jabot of black and grey silk, and carried a posy of Chatenay roses and maidenhair fern. The guests invited to the tea were:—The Rev. Wedding Notice Advertiser and Register 20 August 1931 At the Charleston Methodist Church last Saturday, the marriage was celebrated of Mr. Waldemar Boerth, of Tweedvale to Hazel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Wedding Notice West Coast Sentinel 17th April 1914 BOWERING - TREZONA A pretty wedding took place at the Spicer Memorial Church, St Peters, on Thursday, February 26th, when Evelyn, daughter of Mr John James Trezona, of Petina, was married to Mr. F. J. Bowering, youngest son of Mr. J. R. Bowering of Glenelg. The officiating minister was the Rev. F. Dunn. The church was prettily decorated with white flowers and fern, the work of the lady friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a dress of white silk, with silk lace over-dress, court train daintily draped long veil, and a coronet of orange blossom, while she carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley, white carnations, stocks and daisies, and fern. The only jewellery worn was a diamond brooch the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Misses E. George and F. and E. Trezona, who were attired as follows: - Miss George, embroidered lace, with pale blue sash, carrying a bouquet of pale blue flowers, with long blue ribbon streamers; Miss F. Trezona (sister of the bride) , silk, with silk lace over-dress, pale pink silk sash, carrying a bouquet of pink flowers, with long pink ribbon streamers; Miss E. Trezona (niece of the bride) pale blue silk, with silk trimming, carrying a basket of flowers. The bridegroom's gifts to each bridesmaid was a gold brooch set with cameo. Mr. W. J. Trezona, brother of the bride, acted as best man, and Mr. H.A. Trezona, another brother, and Master W. C. Trezona, a nephew as groomsmen. The church organist played the wedding march as the bridal party entered and left the church. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Spicer Memorial hall, adjoining the church, and after this about 70 to 80 guests sat down to a varied and dainty spread. The usual toasts were honored, interspersed with musical and vocal items by Mr. W.J. Trezona and Miss Gladys Evens. Mrs R.T. Trezona acted as hostess. Mr and Mrs Bowering left about half past four the same afternoon by the steamer Katoomba for their home in Sydney. The bride's travelling dress was a grey tweed tailor-made coat and skirt costume, with hat to match. The happy couple were the recipients of many costly, useful and beautiful presents.

She wore a peach and silver dutch cap and carried a bouquet of roses and sweetpeas tied with ribbon streamers. Miss N Brown (second bridesmaid) wore a blue crepe de chine frock with silver lace trimmings on the skirt and a silver flower on the shoulder. She wore a blue and silver dutch cap and carried a bouquet of autumn tints tied with ribbon streamers. Miss Gladys Forster (sister of bridegroom) was third bridesmaid, and wore a frock of mauve georgette with silver and velvet trimmings. She also wore the mauve and silver dutch cap and carried a bouquet of mauve iris and sweetpeas tied with ribbon streamers to match. Mr C. M. Forster was best man and Messrs. H Davison and J Brown were groomsmen. After the ceremony a reception was held in the A.W.U. Hall in Flinders street, Adelaide, where about 80 guests were entertained. The bride's mother wore a bois de rose repp frock with fawn trimmings, and a hat to match. She carried a posy of violets. The bride's travelling dress was a vieux rose repp with kilted skirt. She wore a hat to match and a brown fox fur, the gift of the groom. The honeymoon was spent in the hills.
