Thursday, September 8, a family gathering took place at the residence
of Mr. and Mrs. H. Bampton. Scott-street, Park- side, to celebrate the
golden anniversary of their wedding. Kindly wishes were expressed for
their future welfare. Some handsome and useful presents, as well as
letters of congratulation were received. Mr. and Mrs. Bampton landed
in this State in November, 1855. Mr. Bampton was employed about 43
years on construction and maintenance of the South Australian railways.

and Mrs. E. E. Baney, of Welland, entertained about 100 guests at the
Rechabite Hall, Hindmarsh, on Saturday evening to celebrate the coming
of age of their daughter, Laurel. The hall was decorated with bunting
and blue gum. and the supper tables with pale pink carnations and phlox.
Mr. Baney presented his daughter with a large key, painted gold, which
was autographed by all present.

_Bon Voyage Notice Advertiser & Register 6 March 1931 There
was a large gathering of friends at the Adelaide Railway Station on
March 4 to wish Miss Ruby Barnes good luck and bon voyage. She is en
route for New Guinea, Where her marriage with Mr. W. Veale, of Edie
Creek, will be celebrated. Miss Barnes will leave by the Marsina on
Saturday from Sydney for Salamoa, thence by aeroplane to Wau, where the
wedding will take place, the warden of the mines officiating. Mr. W.
Veale is a mine manager. The couple will then travel on mules 13 miles
up particularly steep mountains with an escort of natives to their new
home, During the war Miss Barnes . did splendid work among the soldiers,
their name for her being "Little Sunhine,". Miss Barnes left wearing a
cream ensemble, with a touch of navy a and gold stitching. The cream
coat had a white fox fur collar and cuffs, and she wore a black
close-fitting hat. Among those who gave her a send-off were Mrs. C. C.

Wednesday evening, July 9, Mr. and Mrs Barron, of Tully Nessal,
Sheffield -street; Malvern, celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their
wedding, and all of their children, except one son who is at White
Cliffs, their grandchildren, and one great- grandchild, assembled to
tender congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Barron were mar- ried on July 9,
1852, by the Rev. John Gardiner, in Chalmers Church, Adelaide. The
happy couple, who are still in perfect health, were the recipients of
many hand made presents. A pleasant evening was spent.

_Silver Wedding Notice The Advertiser 12 November 1927 In
the Rechabite Hall, Hindmarsh, on Wednesday was celebrated the
twenty-fifth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Battersby
of "Elsieleigh," Philip-street. Southwark. Vocal, elocutionary, and
illusory items, interspersed with dancing and games, provided a fund of
entertainment. One hundred and fifty guests sat down to supper. The
tables were decorated with carnations and Iceland poppies. After the
loyal toast, "The Bride and Bridegroom" was proposed by the Rev. T.
Vigia (in the absence of the Rev. R.Taylor), and responded to by Mr. T.
J. Battersby. The toast of "the bridesmaids' was in the hands of the
Rev. P. Clarke, and the response by Mr. D Battersby. Congratulatory
telegrams from various country and suburban centres were received. Mr H.
B. Ogilvie officiated as toastmaster, and Messsrs Squire and Ogilvie as
combined MC's. Proceedings terminatad by the singing of Auld Lang Syne.

_Golden Wedding Notice Advertiser 2 September 1898 Mr.
and Mrs. F. A. Benkenstine, of New Thebarton, celebrated their golden
wedding on Thursday, August 25, at the residence of their youngest
daughter, Mrs. R. Collins. In the evening a number of relatives and
friends sat down to an excellent spread, after which the Rev. W. B.
Mather and Mr. W. B. Wicks, in a few well-chosen words, congratulated
the host and hostess upon having together successfully battled through
50 years of joys and sorrows. Mr. Benkenstine in feeling terms
responded. A social evening was afterwards enjoyably spent. Mr. and Mrs.
Benkenstins were married in Sydney in 1848 ; they afterwards removed
to New Zealand, and few years later came to this colony and settled at
Second Valley. During a forty year residence there Mr. Benkenstine took
considerable interest in local affairs; he successfully held every
honorary position in the district council, and for 12 years was a member
of the school board of Advice. In the local Wesleyan Church he also
held several offices and for a number of years was Superintendent of the
Sunday school. A short time ago Mr. and. Mrs. Benkenstine took up their
residence near the city, 'where their declining days are being passed
in comfort.

golden wedding was celebrated in Port Pirie a day or two ago. Mr. Henry
and Mrs. Ann Branford were married in England in the year 1849, and
left on January 22, 1853, in the barque Caucasian, arriving at Port
Adelaide at the end of April of the same year. Mr. and Mrs. Branford had
a large family—l0 sons and 6 daughters—of whom three sons and three
daughters are living—Messrs. John and Elijah Branford. of Port Pirie:
Henry Branford of Thebarton: Mrs. Miles, of North Adelaide: Mrs. W.J.
Trembath. of Port Augusta; and Mrs. A. J. Whittle, of Baroota. There are
47 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The old folks are well and
hearty.

_Diamond Wedding Notice Advertiser 27 April 1910 Mr.
and Mrs. D. Brown, of Prospect, celebrated their diamond wedding on
Monday. Mr. Brown is 85 years of age, and his wife is in her 77th year,
and both were born in Brickstock, in Northamptonshire. In 1852 they
sailed for Victoria, and after a stay of about three months in the
sister State, they came to South Australia and settled at Woodside,
where they remained for 16 years engaged in farming. About 7 years ago
they took up land at Maitland, Yorke Peninsula where they resided until
they retired ten years ago. Their family consists of four sons and
seven daughters (Mr. W. H Brown, of Adelaide; Mr. John Brown, of
Wallaroo: Mr. C. A. Brown, of Prospect; Mr. D. E Brown, of Maitland;
Mrs. Lambert of Towitta: Mrs. Johnston, of Norwood, Mrs. Buck, of
Moonta: Mrs. Cane, of Islington; Mrs. Hinton, of Stokes; Mrs. Paling, of
Hawker; and Mrs. McLeod. of near Moonta). There are 47 grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren. All but one of the numerous family were
present at a reunion of descendants, held in the Prospect Hall. The Rev.
W. Hawke presided. After a sumptuous repast, the Rev. John Chapman (of
Hamley Bridge) proposed the health of the old couple. After the toast
had been honored, Mr. Uffindell responded on behalf of the old couple.
The Rev. T. S. Williams, of Maitland, proposed the toast of "The united
family," and Mr. Cane responded. The evening terminated with parlor
games, interspersed with solos by Miss England and Daphne Whittle, an
overture by Miss Cane, and humorous-recitals by Mr. H. Scales.
